Theatre Communications Group Grant Benefits UC Davis Dept. of Theatre and Dance

The UC Davis Department of Theatre and Dance is among the recipients of Theatre Communications Group’s program “Plays for the People: In the Stacks.” With funding from the Mellon Foundation, TCG has provided $25,000 total in book credits to 50 recipient organizations in an effort to help them expand and diversify their drama collections.

Alum Selected as Redwood National & State Parks Artist-in-Residence

Lauren Godla and Madeline Lawder, two women in mid-air performance

Alumna Lauren Godla (BA, exercise biology major with a minor in theatre and dance, ’12) has been chosen by Redwood Parks Conservancy, California State Parks and the National Park Service as a Redwood National & State Parks Spring 2024 Artist-in-Residence.

Several UC Davis alumni and staff members are working in various capacities on Sacramento’s Big Idea Theatre’s One-Act Play Festival. The three-week festival begins Jan. 25.

Alumna Sonya Eddy Wins Emmy Award Posthumously

Alumna Sonya Eddy (B.A., Afro-American studies, ’94) won a posthumous Daytime Emmy Award, nearly one year after her death. She was honored Dec. 15 with the Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series for her work on General Hospital.

Who’s There?
Shakespeare's Hamlet Reimagined

Tickets 

The Department of Theatre and Dance presents a world premiere work that reimagines William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. Who’s There by Irish theatre director and acting teacher Sinéad Rushe plays May 16, 17, 18, 23, 24 at 7 p.m. and May 25 at 2 p.m. in the Wyatt Pavilion Theatre on Old Davis Road.

Spring Dance Concert

The Department of Theatre and Dance will present “(Re)Vision,” the spring 2023 dance concert, May 31, June 1 at 7 p.m. and June 2 at 2 p.m. in the Main Theatre, Wright Hall.
