Elephant’s Graveyard, a new work written and directed by Jade Rosina McCutcheon, takes a good look at getting older and being ‘put out to graze.’ The performance explores the ways we deal with our elderly and our fears of old age and dying. Dr. McCutcheon, an Australian director and scholar, is an assistant professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at UC Davis. She has written numerous books and articles; her most recent book is Awakening the Performing Body.
Sideshow Physical Theatre is a resident performing company of the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts and the resident professional company in the Department of Theatre and Dance at UC Davis. It is devoted to the exploration of new performance forms and the consequent creation of interdisciplinary work that merges text, dance, video, and film into productions that are viscerally, artistically, and intellectually challenging.
Della Davidson, a professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance, is the artistic director of Sideshow Physical Theatre. Davidson received her MA from University of Arizona in 1983 and was the artistic director of the award-winning Della Davidson Dance Company in San Francisco for 15 years before coming to UC Davis in 2001.
