Larry Bogad's September Performance/Politics Events

09-08-2009

Professor Larry Bogad will be delivering lectures/performances at UC Berkeley on 9/14, and a featured talk at the Conflux Art Festival in New York City on 9/19.

Conflux is the annual New York festival for contemporary psychogeography, the investigation of everyday urban life through emerging artistic, technological and social practice. At Conflux, visual and sound artists, writers, urban adventurers and the public gather for four days to explore their urban environment.

The Village Voice describes Conflux as a “network of maverick artists and unorthodox urban investigators… making fresh, if underground, contributions to pedestrian life in New York City, and upping the ante on today’s fight for the soul of high-density metropolises.”

Professor Bogad will make a special appearance during the G-20 Summit in Pittsbugh--where he will be the Distinguished Lecturer of Perforamnce and Politics at Carnegie Mellon University.
Hew will give a talk before the summit, a sort of "pre-game analysis" of the issues of protest and policing in public space, and creative solutions. Then he performs a one-person show in one of their curated venues.
