Mindy Cooper was previously UC Davis Granada Artist-in-Residence spring of 2007 when she directed and choreographed the highly acclaimed URINETOWN: THE MUSICAL. Ms Cooper returns this quarter as director/choreographer of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s OKLAHOMA!, a UC Davis Centennial event jointly produced with the Department of Music. Ms. Cooper’s credits include:

Regionally- FIDDLER ON THE ROOF (Nevada Conservatory Theater), THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO TAMMY FAYE (Staged Reading, Manhattan Theater Club), URINETOWN (Artist in Residence, UCDavis), THE NEW BOZENA (Hudson Theater, LA), HEART & SOUL (St. Petersburg Russia), FAIR LIBERTY’S CALL (World Premiere), CHICAGO, THE SECRET ANNEX, TITANIC, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, FIVE COURSE LOVE, and MUSIC IN THE NIGHT, A TRIBUTE TO JEROME KERN for the Broadway Cabaret Series at Town Hall (NYC). She has also choreographed numerous benefits, commercials and industrials, as well as LAW & ORDER, CRIMINAL INTENT.
Performer She has appeared on Broadway in CHICAGO (Original Revival), TITANIC (Original Cast), BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, SONG & DANCE, and TENDERLOIN (Encores!). Off-Broadway, she has worked extensively at the New York Shakespeare Festival in THE PETRIFIED PRINCE, UP AGAINST IT, GENESIS, and The Vineyard Theater's THE CHOCOLATE AMBASSADOR. Regionally, she has performed many classics, including WEST SIDE STORY, CHICAGO, MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, PIPPIN, ON YOUR TOES, A CHORUS LINE, SINGIN' IN THE RAIN and ......FORUM. Her film and television credits include TO DREAM OF ROSES (HBO), THRILLED TO DEATH, The Today Show, The Rosie O'Donnell Show, and The Tony Awards. She has danced as a member of Twyla Tharp Dance, The Feld Ballet, The Kansas City Ballet, and Thingseziseem Dance Theatre.
Teacher She has had the privilege of teaching master classes in New York and while working all over the United States and abroad, including Russia, Mexico City, Denmark, Chicago, Minneapolis and Miami. She has also been a guest teacher at Barnard College, University of California San Diego, Virginia Commonwealth University, The Baltimore School For The Arts, SUNY Brockport’s Dance Rochester Series, New York City’s Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, and LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts. She has served as adjunct faculty at the University of California, Davis.
Awards Ms. Cooper was recently awarded Best Director by the Bay Area Critics Circle for her 2008 production of THE MUSICAL OF MUSICALS (THE MUSICAL!) at Center Rep in Walnut Creek, CA.
