Jade Rosina McCutcheon

Actor training, Performance & Consciousness,Contemporary Shamanism

An Australian director and scholar, Dr. McCutcheon’s directing credits include over 50 productions at venues such as: the NIDA Theatre, Sydney; the Adelaide Festival; Wharf Theatre; Sydney Theatre Company; Colorado College Theatre; and Mondavi Center, UC Davis. After two years as a member of the International Theatre Research Company KISS in Holland, McCutcheon developed a shamanic approach to acting as part of her doctorate from University of Technology, Sydney, and has presented workshops and papers on her work at conferences around the world, most recently at the Actor's Centre in Sydney (patron, Hugh Jackman). A Visiting Scholar at the Tisch School of the Arts in 1996, she is currently co-Convenor of the Performance and Consciousness working group for the International Federation of Theatre Research. McCutcheon's research revolves around actor training, performance & consciousness, contemporary shamanism and the relationship between the actor and the audience.
